“Decomposition is the process by which dead organic substances are broken down into simpler organic or inorganic matter.”

With constant repetition, our brain forms neural pathways. The more these pathways are used, the stronger they become and our actions subsequently become more automatic.

Using randomness we can force our brains to create new pathways, thus opening ourselves up to new ideas and experiences.

The title ‘Decomposition’ represents this “anti-composition” philosophy as well as being a reference to the environment in which the album was created. The setting was a beautiful, lush fishing village on the Pacific coast of Mexico. It was a return to nature from the tiny and inorganic confines of big-city living.

'Decomposition' is an album in which randomness is used as a starting point to break down the compositional process into a simpler form. From there, brand new ideas and perspectives are shaped into fully formed works.
